Day 2 reflections

Day 2: March 23, 2012 Elizabeth K; Hannah M; Emily K; Suhina L

First of all, we are so tired, but Mr. Shawe promised this would only take us five minutes! So here are our highlights of the day: Going to Mother’s for breakfast, where the line was long but the pancakes were delicious; Scraping the paint off the house at our service site, where we sang together and played more rounds of “contact.” Also, playing football with our new friend, Dreye, and eating lunch (“My shrimp thing [read: po boy] was really good!”); Returning to the hotel to get ready for the evening; had some down time and loved taking a ton of photos on our “tropical island”; Going bowling at Rock-n-Bowl was fun (I was happy when I got my almost-spare), but dancing was a blast – and their French fries were amazing; Dinner at Mandina’s was great – I tried the turtle soup (slimy and chewy but really good), and I ordered shrimp etouffee (really soupy) – our waiter was funny (sort of) but he made us tense; At the Creole Creamery, I loved how it said “Eat Ice Cream. Be Happy” on the wall – and I thought my cotton candy flavor and my special New Orleans cake batter were delicious, as were the waffle cones! Until tomorrow…
